Check Your Congregation's Contribution Letter

Without the magic words, the IRS will disallow the contribution letter—and last year several clergy clients submitted copies of their own church’s contribution letter to us without them (therefore worthless for proof to the IRS).   The magic words are: "No goods or services other than intangible religious benefits were provided in return for the above charitable contributions.”   Other wording that says the same thing is acceptable.

IRS agents do check this in audits!
